This purple elephant watercolor painting video is one of a kind. Monochrome watercolor are not as easy as they seem ! My client Chantal was well on her way to redecorate her home office and wanted to include chakras’ color inspired animal and asked me to paint (hold your breath…..) all 7 of them ! This is my favorite of the bunch because it shows that a good communication is key when it comes to custom orders !
The very first sketch I did for the elephant had his trunk down and Chantal prefered to have it up and completely visible. We worked great together and got to a final result that we both like a lot. I can’t wait to get a picture of all those watercolor paintings hanging in her office !
This watercolor painting video is a speed painting of 2 minutes so it doesn’t show how much I had to take my time and I also took many steps back to make sure I wasn’t overpainting it, or that the single purple color for the elephant body was a good idea. There are touches of pink but mostly you can see that a purple elephant can be a real thing. When starting a completely out of this world watercolor painting, you put your mind into it and almost see it before your eyes prior any brush strokes! Take your time and focus on the lighting source, the rest is just a combination of shades and maybe a little bit of magic haha!
